Why mutual value is as important than the ERP product – a blog by Lindsay Ross

A blog written by our Marketing Manager – Lindsay Ross.

Having spent over 25 years in the tech sector, mostly in marketing, I recently had the chance to stand in for a colleague at a face-to-face ERP event—itSHOWCASE. Why was I excited? Well, it was my golden ticket to the frontline, where I could eavesdrop on the real-life challenges our potential customers face and discover what lures them to specific ERP vendors. Sure, I had to dust off my ‘selling hat’ and spent the night before tossing and turning, fretting over my knowledge of those brainy Sage X3 ERP questions I might face. But guess what? I needn’t have worried! And why is that, you ask?

Ah, the plot twist of the day! Out of the five meetings we had, the star of the show wasn’t the Sage X3’s bells and whistles, but rather our business values. Sure, there were the usual suspects asking, “Can it do this?” but the real headliner was, “Can we be BFF?” (Best Friends Forever)—a long-term partnership with shared, mutual values was the hot topic.

Is ‘BFF’ in the business world a thing? It seems so! The relationship with your ERP vendor is like a good romantic comedy: it’s all about the chemistry during and after the big implementation scene. This consultative connection is also part of the secret ingredient to a successful ERP project.

It got me thinking…Why does the ERP vendor relationship matter?

It’s a bit like an ultimate business romance! A top-notch ERP vendor partnership means your vendor not only knows your business processes and products like the back of their hand, but also gets along well with your team, there is a business connection. This perfect pairing ensures your ERP is tailor-made to your needs. And the perks of this relationship? The partnership keeps on giving, even after the big implementation day. As your business dives headfirst into the ERP world, your implementation partner will be right there, ready to dish out the best advice, support you and turbocharge your ERP solution in the most proactive way possible.

It’s also about clear communication

Great communication is the backbone of any thriving business relationship, and it’s no different when teaming up with an ERP vendor like Inixion. It’s all about having open and honest conversations and being quick to address any questions or concerns during the implementation and support stages. You deserve a proactive partner, , and that’s exactly what we hear from businesses that switch their Sage X3 support to us time and time again. A few more reasons why clear communication is so vital:

  1. We make sure your expectations match reality, so there are no surprises or letdowns later on.
  2. We believe that being open about our processes and support options is a fantastic way to earn your trust. It’s all about making sure you feel confident that we’re genuinely looking out for you and dedicated to achieving great results together!
  3. When something comes up, we’re quick to respond and keep things clear, making sure you’re always in the loop about what’s happening and how we’re fixing it.
  4. We’ve got a wealth of experience and know-how in the industry and with the specific ERP solution we’re rolling out. We’re here to guide you on best practices, suggest customisations or integrations, and tackle any issues that pop up. When you’re choosing a vendor, look for one with a proven track record of successful ERP implementations and happy customers. Just to share a ‘wee’ brag (I am Scottish!), Inixion hasn’t had a single failed Sage X3 project since we started in 2006!
  5. As a reliable ERP partner, we’re here to make sure your Sage X3 solution is perfectly customised to fit your specific needs, so you won’t have to squeeze your business into a one-size-fits-all mould.
  6. At Inixion, we’re not just cogs in the corporate machine; we’re the whole engine! Our well-being is the fuel that keeps us running smoothly. Peek under the hood of any business, and you’ll see that how they treat their team is a dead giveaway of how they roll in the business world.

Well, it turns out I didn’t need to stress about mastering Sage X3’s technical details or the complexities of batch processing and multi-formula management! It was really about the values we share with our customers and how we collaborate for mutual value. Is the ERP product important? Of course, it is, but it’s only half of the success story.

Now to leave you with some of our lovely customer quotes around our partnership approach:

“Having a partner like Inixion is worth its weight in gold. They understood our company and international challenges. We came to a solution that was really good; good for us, but also good for our customers, because we are minimising any potential delays with those cross-border shipments, we are doing that in a more cost effective manner. That benefits our customers as well as BioIVT.”

Nick Ariganello, Senior Director, Enterprise Applications, BioIVT

“We’re very happy with the support we are getting and want to continue that. We recognise the value and I’m sure we’re valuable to you as well. It’s a great partnership.”

“The key thing that Inixion does, is that before any implementation is started, they have a key understanding of what every business unit did, what the key drivers were for that business and how things were done and how best they could be done on Sage X3.”
