Legacy ERP preventing chemicals business growth
Blagden Specialty Chemicals was using Sage Line 500 to manage its distribution and manufacturing operations. Blagden realised their legacy ERP software was becoming problematic and was potentially holding back the business. Blagden selected Sage X3 to provide the future-proof platform that the business required.
A single system to control all business processes
The company needed multi-currency trading capabilities, automated inventory management, financial management and reporting capabilities. The old system didn’t include these critical capabilities the company needed to grow. Blagden wanted a Sage X3 partner who could add real value to their Sage X3 implementation, by challenging the business and looking for improvements in their processes. Inixion was invited to present and provide an outline project plan with a walk-through, explanations of implementation methodology, project governance and an insight into the ongoing relationship that Blagden could expect from them.
Management of chemical formulae, multi-currency trading, finance and inventory
The multi-currency capabilities of Sage X3 help Blagden to precisely handle multi-currency trading as they buy stock in many different currencies and require precise handling of multi-currency trading. Blagden now has extensive reporting capabilities, including the capability to enquire, report and drill down into any detail. Blagden can now tightly manage inventory, providing them with flexibility and visibility across the business, as Blagden is a specialist distributor – buying from major international manufacturers and selling, often on a technical basis, to very discerning clients. They needed tight and integrated management of blending and other light manufacturing services, particularly the management of chemical formulae. From the outset Blagden expected the system to control document management and the ability to email outbound documents including invoices, statements, Certificates of Conformity, etc. along with electronic archiving.
