Reporting issues due to disparate accounting and ERP systems.

Babcock has built a global business that covers companies in the UK, Ireland, Norway and Australia. As a result of the growth of the business, Babcock was operating a large number of different accounting systems, including Sage 200. This meant that data was scattered in numerous and disconnected databases, making the production of group management accounts a long and tedious process. Babcock needed to implement a single worldwide solution that would enable all financial operations for its multiple companies to be centralised on one system.

A single, global solution to manage multiple companies trading in multiple geographic locations

Babcock selected Sage X3 to be implemented by Inixion. The solution needed to address several specific challenges. A single solution and database were needed for the entire worldwide organisation, including the management of multiple companies trading in multiple geographic locations and currencies and complex reporting requirements needed to be standardised in the single solution. To ensure visibility of business-critical documents across the business electronic control of outbound and inbound documents was needed. Large data sets imported from helicopter flight control systems needed to be imported into the single solution to ensure full visibility across the organisation.

Sage X3 Llive within 4 months

Inixion used its tried and tested implementation methodology to tightly control all elements of the project. A full review of all business processes was carried out, documented, and signed off before Sage X3 was configured by Inixion. The Babcock project team were then trained on the system, and full tests were carried out, leading to a formal Conference Room Pilot. The pilot was successful and the first site went live in Staverton, Gloucestershire 4 months after the project start date. Babcock’s operations throughout the rest of the world then followed in the next few months.
